Design Scope
Project Overview
Design Concept

Project Overview
The annual Ershui Water Running Festival has a history of over 300 years. It is a ritual that expresses the people’s prayers for good weather and abundant harvests. Held at Babao Canal, the most significant water management facility in Changhua and Taiwan’s largest early irrigation project, the festival has greatly influenced the development of the Changhua Plain. The visual design incorporates elements from the festival such as the Water Running Thanksgiving Ceremony, tug-of-war, cycling, marathons, and key landmarks like the Lin Sir Temple and local specialty “Zhuoshui Rice.” The festival aims to remind the public of the hardships faced by the early settlers and instill a sense of gratitude and appreciation for blessings through the annual event.
Design Concept
The logo is centered around the ancient character for "water," incorporating the characters for "two," "eight," and "people" into the design. This symbolizes the significance of the festival, which brings together local and non-local participants in celebration. The logo also integrates the bamboo weaving features of stone baskets and the imagery of irrigation channels. The design evokes a sense of unity, remembrance, and the cultural practice of acknowledging the source of blessings, creating a strong connection between the logo and the local culture.
